چکیده

Strict segregation and eradication policies have led to a declining prevalence of chronic P. aeruginosa infection, with only 30% of CF adolescents having chronic infection when they transition to adult services [4]. Adult CF physicians increasingly manage new P. aeruginosa cultures in adults without robust evidence to guide decision-making. We evaluated the success of our eradication and suppression strategies for adults with a new or re-emergent P. aeruginosa culture in the clinical setting of a large European adult CF centre (Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre, Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK).

Genetic Profiling of Pseudomonas aeruginosa Isolates from Iranian Patients with Cystic Fibrosis Using RAPD-PCR and PFGE

Objective(s) Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most important cause of chronic lung infections and death in patients with cystic fibrosis. Determining the distribution of specific strains within patient populations is important in order to examine the epidemiology of the disease and the possibility of cross infection among patients. Materials and Methods Forty six Iranian patients with cystic fib...

Outcomes of adults with cystic fibrosis infected with antibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

BACKGROUND Although Pseudomonas aeruginosa is the most common bacterial infection in adults with cystic fibrosis and frequently develops resistance to multiple classes of antibiotics, it has not been determined whether patients with multiple antibiotic-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa have worse clinical outcomes than patients with more susceptible strains. OBJECTIVES This study assessed the ...

Antibiotic Susceptibility of Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Isolated from Cystic Fibrosis Patients

Abstract Background and Objective: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an autosomal recessive genetic disease and Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the most common bacteria colonized in CF patients. Growing resistance of this bacterium to antibiotics now a day is a challenge of controlling infection in CF patient. In this study colonization of CF patients with Pseudomonas aeruginosa and antibiotic suscep...

Does mass spectrometric breath analysis detect Pseudomonas aeruginosa in cystic fibrosis?

Pseudomonas aeruginosa associated with increased morbidity and mortality in cystic fibrosis (CF) can be eradicated if detected early; however, prompt detection is problematic in children and non-expectorating adults as oropharyngeal cultures lack sensitivity [1]. We previously reported that 20% of children with negative oropharyngeal cultures isolated P. aeruginosa on bronchoalveolar lavage [2]...

Challenges in managing Pseudomonas aeruginosa in non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis.

BACKGROUND An Expert Forum was held at the 2014 European Respiratory Society International Congress to address issues involved in the management of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infection in patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis (NCFB). Multiple studies have found that chronic P. aeruginosa infection is associated with more severe disease and higher morbidity and mortality. OVERVIEW Parti...
